Carve Out Some Fun at the Pumpkin Run

From start to finish, the 4th annual Kohl’s Pumpkin Run and Family Walk is a scream for all ages. On Saturday, Oct. 11 at 9 a.m. more than 1,000 parents and children walk or run the 3.1 mile loop winding through an east Memphis neighborhood. The race starts at 1000 Ridgeway Loop and ends at the same location with a Boo Bash for the entire family. Children are invited to wear costumes. The event benefits Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center.

  • White Station Middle School student Brooke Saharovici, honorary chair of the Pumpkin Run, will be recognized for her determination overcoming a physical challenge. Brooke was born with one leg shorter than the other. This summer, Brooke had surgery to stunt the growth of the longer leg. She spent a few weeks this summer in a wheelchair, walker and leg immobilizer. Brooke was determined to not let her disability get in her way. Brooke’s friends from White Station Middle will be running in her honor.
  • Team Ryan, more than 60 Le Bonheur employees strong, will run and walk to support their patient, Ryan Tendrich-Arias. Ryan has been a patient since he was 6 months old. Born three months premature, Ryan struggled with respiratory issues and developmental delays. Thanks to his team of caregivers and the constant love and support of his family, Ryan – now 20 months old – is clapping, waving, smiling and learning to walk.
  • Safe Kids Mid-South will unveil the new Kohl’s Safe Kids van wrap. Three local children – Madeline Flack, Terrance Robertson and Natacha White – will see their photos on the van for the first time. Safe Kids Mid-South, led by Le Bonheur, works to prevent accidental childhood injury, the leading killer of children 14 and under. Kohl’s will also present a check to Le Bonheur for $67,000 which will support various safety efforts throughout the community. Kohl’s commitment to Le Bonheur is made possible through Kohl’s Cares for Kids.
