Alastair MacGregor is senior vice president and the chief medical information officer, at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare (MLH), a not for profit, six hospital academic/ community integrated health system in Memphis, TN.
Dr. MacGregor is the executive leader of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare's Information Science Division and has responsibility for all medical, nursing and ancillary information systems teams that contribute to all aspects of the EHR from procurement to implementation, adoption and maintenance in the acute and ambulatory venues.
Dr. MacGregor has extensive international health informatics consulting experience covering acute and ambulatory care. Prior to joining Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, MacGregor spent eleven years as a consulting physician executive at Cerner Corporation, including being founding Medical Director of Cerner's National Physician Consulting Practice, creator of the Solution Center Client Physician Track and broad implementation engagements with many of Cerner's US, Canadian, Caribbean, UK and Australian client health organizations.
Prior to joining Cerner, MacGregor was the medical director for Clinidata Inc. Canada leading a number of consulting engagements with Provincial Governments and Medical Associations across Canada on Primary Care Reform and Ambulatory Care EMR Requirements. He also served as a full-time medical consultant to the Ministry of Health in British Columbia, Canada.
MacGregor received a MB ChB (MD degree equivalent) from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. He is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners of the United Kingdom (board certification in family medicine). His formal medical career was in anesthesiology/critical care and then family medicine. He was also a consultant in primary care informatics with a Scottish health region responsible for 63 primary care clinics where he led a five-fold increase in clinics using the national Primary Care Electronic Medical Record System.
