    The Cancer Center, located at Methodist University Hospital, provides a multidisciplinary team of medical professionals to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual and social challenges that come with a diagnosis of cancer and its subsequent treatment.

  • Eye Care Service Site

    Affecting more than 20 million Americans over age 40, cataracts are caused by a clouding of the ocular lens which can make objects look blurred and/or impair night vision. Dr. Rolando Toyos, medical director and founder of Toyos Clinic, uses a procedure known as AquaLase, the latest technology in cataract surgery. During the surgery the cataract is dissolved using warm pulses of solution that wash away the lens layer by layer. Once the damaged lens is removed it is replaced with a new lens. The procedure can be done on an outpatient basis and doesn’t require shots or stitches.

    All men are at risk for prostate cancer. The risk increases with age, and family history also increases the risk. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men, excluding skin cancer. African-American men are more likely to have prostate cancer than Caucasian men, and have nearly a two-fold higher mortality rate than Caucasian men.

    Reconstructive plastic surgery is performed to correct facial and body abnormalities caused by birth defects, trauma, disease, or aging.

    About 4.9 million reconstructive plastic surgeries are performed each year in the US. Usually, the goal of reconstructive plastic surgery is to improve body function. Classes are led by registered nurses and dietitians and are designed to teach patients how to manage their diabetes.
