What is home health?
Home health is a service that allows patients to receive the care and treatment they need at home rather than in the hospital. Since every patient has different health care needs, home health differs for each patient. As part of home health, a nurse visits the patient’s home to assess the needs of the patient. The patient may require nursing support or treatment by a speech therapist, physical therapist, or occupational therapist. Our staff teaches the patient and/or family about their health care needs, then instructs them as to how to care for these needs at home. Members of our staff will then make follow-up visits to observe the patient’s condition and response to treatment.
Who needs home health?
Many patients with many different health requirements need home health care services. Home health may be appropriate for a patient who needs short-term care after going home from the hospital, nursing home, or rehabilitation facility. Patients with any of the following conditions, and many others, may benefit from home health services:
- Cancer
- Diabetes
- Fractures
- Heart Disease
- Neurologic Disorders
- Serious Injuries
- Stroke
- Surgery
- Wounds
What services are offered by Methodist Alliance Home Care?
Methodist Alliance Home Care is a part of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare and offers a variety of home health care services for adults as well as children. Our staff consists of Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Physical Therapists, Home Health Aides, and Social Workers. Our team works together, with the physician, to develop each patient’s personal care plan. All of our home health services are provided to patients in the comfort of their home. A nurse is on call 7 days a week, 24 hours a day to assist patients.
Are private duty nursing or sitter services available?
Presently, Methodist Home Care does not offer private duty nursing or sitter services.
Do I qualify for home health care?
If you have been in the hospital and are coming home, or your loved one has been ill for quite some time, you may need skilled help with care and education with regards to medications or your disease process. You may also need wound care, IV therapy, or physical therapy assistance with ambulation (moving around) or wheelchair mobility. Your doctor will be able to assist you in deciding if home health care services are needed.
How can I get started with Methodist Alliance Home Care?
Home health service requires referral from your physician. Placement is available based on the patient's choice of home care provider. Talk with your medical provider about any services you believe are needed.
Which insurance payers does Methodist Alliance Home Health accept?
We accept Medicare, Medicaid, TennCare for children, and a large number of commercial insurances.
