Diabetes Wellness & Prevention Center
We offer help understanding and managing your diabetes. We provide:
- Exams and screenings
- Help managing medicines and medical devices (blood glucose testing, inhalers, etc.)
- Nutrition and meal planning advice
- Help with weight management
- Help finding resources
- Personal check up calls between visits

If you've been diagnosed with diabetes, classes may be covered by your insurance. Methodist Germantown's diabetes services have received national recognition from the American Diabetes Association.
Diabetes Education Class
Following recommendations from the American Diabetes Association. Patients meet with a certified diabetes educator to determine educational goals and the teaching plan. Patients are actively involved in the shared decision making process. Classes cover topics including diabetes overview, nutrition planning and management, physical activity, emotions and stress management, medication therapies, risk reduction and problem solving.
Gestational Diabetes Class
Expectant mothers receive a gestational diabetes management plan that focuses on nutrition and maintenance of normal blood glucose levels. Glucose meter training is available.
One-on-One Diabetes Education—Insulin Training
This is a one-on-one educational session for insulin administration only. The training session lasts between 30 minutes and an hour.
One-on-One Diabetes Education—Special Needs
This is a one-on-one educational session for those with special needs. All appointments are currently in a group setting. If an individual setting is needed, please specify when making appointment.
Insurance Coverage for ClassesFor classes that require payment, most insurance plans cover the cost of diabetes education at the request of your physician. Check with your insurance company to find out if your plan covers classes.
