Nurses in the ER
Of the entire Emergency Department nursing staff at Methodist University Hospital, 40% have obtained membership in the Emergency Nursing Association, or ENA. Following the ENA standards of Emergency Nursing Practice, MUH Emergency Department nurses provide caring and compassionate service to adult patients of all races, creeds and educational backgrounds within our service area. They work collaboratively with other health care providers in interdepartmental, inter-facility and community quality initiatives.
Education and Certifications
All of the Emergency Department nursing staff are ACLS and PALS certified, with 18% certified in Emergency Nursing (CEN). 35% are certified in Trauma Nursing Care (TNCC). Our goal is 100% certification for the ED nurses in all of the above.

Collaboration in Care – Presenting at the ENA Scientific Assembly
Four Associates from the Methodist University Hospital Emergency Department presented a collaborative project poster, "Bridging the Gap - Building Better Care - Expanding ED Paramedic Practice," at the annual ENA (Emergency Nurses Association) Scientific Assembly in
We received an overwhelming response to the poster presentation, distributing over 300 handouts to attendees requesting more information. Susan Sanderson, RN and Tracy Anderson were able to articulate the process change and positive outcomes and had a lot of enthusiasm for the presentation and the additional learning opportunities during the assembly.
