Sutherland Cardiology Clinic Joins Methodist Family

Sutherland Cardiology Clinic (SCC) will become a part of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare effective July 1, 2010. SCC’s 17 board-certified physicians and nearly 100 employees will become MLH Associates.

“Sutherland Cardiology Clinic has long been known for its focus on quality and service, making the clinic an ideal partner for Methodist,” said Gary S. Shorb, president and CEO, of MLH. “Together we expect to provide even greater coordination of care, offering improved value for patients and their families, referring physicians and payers.

SCC will continue to serve patients at their 7460 Wolf River Boulevard location and at satellite clinics throughout the region. The clinic name will not change, and patients and referring physicians can expect a seamless transition. MLH hospitals will continue to work closely with other hospitals in our service area, and SCC physicians will continue to provide quality cardiology care at other Memphis hospitals just as they always have.

“In the changing world of healthcare, the providers who will be successful in the future are those that are innovative, continuously finding new ways to deliver care to create greater efficiency while improving service and quality,” said J. Charles Lock, Executive Director of SCC. “We are proud to be partnering with Methodist to achieve that.”

Also joining the Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare family on July 1 is the Cardiovascular Center, the practice of Dr. S. Gwin Robbins, Jr. and Dr. Jeffrey B. Gibson. The Cardiovascular Center will move their offices to the campus of Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital on June 23.
