Jay Robinson Joins Methodist South as CEO

James L. “Jay” Robinson, III, PsyD, will become the on-site full-time CEO of Methodist South Hospital on September 17.  Michael Ugwueke, Administrator of Methodist North and South Hospitals, will continue to have oversight responsibility for both North and South, and will continue to have direct leadership responsibility as the on-site CEO at Methodist North.

After serving 20 years in the VA system, where leaders are typically relocated every 2-3 years, Jay and his family decided they want to put down roots in Memphis.  Knowing MLH's reputation as a high-performance, mission-driven organization, Jay approached MLH leadership about joining our team.  Jay’s leadership style is a great fit with MLH culture and his career accomplishments are impressive.  Naming him to the South CEO post provides another seasoned healthcare executive on the MLH leadership team.

Jay earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia and a PsyD from the Virginia Consortium for Professional Psychology, which is associated with The College of William and Mary, Eastern Virginia Medical School, Old Dominion University and Norfolk State University.  He joined the Veterans Administration system in 1992 as a clinical psychologist and moved through the VA leadership ranks in Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia before taking on the CEO position at the Memphis VA Medical Center in 2009.
