Arrhythmia Consultants, the electrophysiology practice of James Porterfield, M.D., has partnered
with Methodist Healthcare to align the interests of patients, the practice and Methodist. This partnership will ensure continued access to arrhythmia treatments for patients in the University Hospital service area, as well as a wide region from which Dr. Porterfield draws.
Dr. Porterfield received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee and served his cardiology Fellowship at Harvard University. In addition to training in cardiology, Dr. Porterfield received additional training in electrophysiology. He is a professor of medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. An avid researcher, he currently has four research projects under way. Dr. Porterfield has been named as one of the Best Doctors in America several times and has won many awards from the Church Health Center for his volunteer work with patients.
“I chose this partnership because it was the best for optimal care of my patients, for teaching extensively and for doing world-class research at a great hospital,” said Dr. Porterfield.
Linda Porterfield, Ph.D., is also a professor of medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science. Together they have published research in more than 100 publications over their careers. Both Porterfields are Fellows in the Heart Rhythm Society.
Married for 31 years, the Porterfields believe their strong partnership and team approach to care benefits their patients.
“We are proud to join forces with Arrhythmia Consultants with a practice that is so well-recognized in its field,” said Bill Breen, senior vice president of physician alignment for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare.
